VeeFriends Topps Chrome Hobby Boxes accidentally listed and sold at $1 leading to frantic recalls

by Collector ClubCollector Club

Black Friday and Cyber Monday has seen trading cards fly off the shelves for cut-price costs, but for VeeFriends, the hobby’s most positive brand, the cost cutting went one step too far.

This weekend staff from VeeFriends confirmed that a pricing error on its online store briefly listed 2025 Topps Chrome VeeFriends Hobby Boxes for just $1, resulting in hundreds of boxes being purchased and shipped before the mistake was corrected.

Panicked staff have since been contacting affected customers, asking whether they would participate in a voluntary buy back or return programme, with follow-up by email or phone offered to discuss options. Naturally, not too many customers have taken them up on this opportunity.

The affected Hobby boxes, which are usually sold for around £130 ($139.99), have been appearing on the secondary market for about $500 to $600 per box. Social posts circulating in the community claimed some buyers realised significant profits by flipping multiple boxes purchased at the error price.

VeeFriends’ founder Gary Vaynerchuk acknowledged the error and the volume of orders placed during the short window, reiterating that outreach went to the largest buyers to gauge interest in a buy-back to recover stock.
