Topps signs deal to produce George Best trading cards

by Collector ClubCollector Club

Topps has struck a deal with The George Best Legacy Company to produce officially licensed trading cards of one of football’s most iconic players .

The announcement, made on the Topps FC Instagram account, confirmed that George Best will feature in various Topps products going forward, with his first card set to appear in the upcoming Topps Manchester United Chrome release, which coincidentally was also sneakily announced for the first time in the post.

The partnership will mark the first time Best has had his own 1/1 officially licensed Topps trading card, and gives collectors the opportunity to add an extremely sought after card featuring the Belfast Boy to their collection. Best has previous appeared on Futera and Topps Chrome SPFL cards.

Manchester United legend George Best – Greatness personified

Widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, George Best lit up the sport during the 1960s and 70s with his flair, skill and charisma both on and off the pitch. He played 474 games for the club, scoring 179 goals and helping the club lift the European Cup in 1968. That same year, he was awarded the Ballon d’Or, becoming first Northern Irish national to win the award.

Best’s influence extended far beyond Old Trafford. Known for his dribbling, creativity and confidence, he quickly became a cultural icon, transforming the perception of footballers and football fandom in the UK. Despite a career later affected by personal struggles, his footballing genius remains unquestioned, and he continues to be revered among the game’s most gifted players.

We expect Bestie’s cards to be huge chases for plenty of collectors out there considering their scarcity, especially those with an affinity to Manchester United. No further details have been shared yet regarding any more of his cards, but demand is expected to be high.
