Heavenly intervention – Pope Leo XIV Topps NOW card sets new non-sports print run record

by Collector ClubCollector Club

Topps has announced that its recent Pope Leo XIV Topps NOW trading card has achieved a record-breaking print run for a non-sports release.

The card, commemorating the election of the first American-born pontiff, reached an incredible print run of 133,535 copies during its limited-time availability.

This figure surpasses previous notable Topps NOW releases, including LeBron James’ 40,000 career points card (86,072 printed), Victor Wembanyama’s NBA Rookie of the Year card (113,777), and John Cena’s WrestleMania 41 card (55,000).

The Pope Leo XIV card was available for purchase from May 8 to May 11, 2025, at a price of £8.99 ($8.99 in the US). Collectors are after this specific card for the opportunity to obtain limited-edition variations, such as the “White Smoke” short print, limited to 267 copies, and various foil parallels.

Unfortunately, and somewhat unsurprisingly, there are no autograph or relic cards from Pope Leo in this one-of-a-kind set..  How cool would that have been?
