On 6 May 2025, Disney Lorcana hosted its “Next Chapter” livestream, presenting a comprehensive roadmap for the trading card game’s future. The event, led by newly appointed Director of Communications Greg Tito, introduced significant developments including new sets, card rarities, gameplay formats, and product offerings.
Disney Lorcana Set 8: Reign of Jafar
Set 8, titled Reign of Jafar, is scheduled for release on 6 June 2025, with pre-release events commencing on 30 May. This set features Jafar as the central antagonist and introduces characters from Disney’s Bambi, including Bambi, Thumper, and Flower. The set also brings back dual-ink cards and adds gold foil to Enchanted cards.
An accompanying Illumineer’s Quest titled Palace Heist will allow up to four players to collaborate in a heist-themed adventure against Jafar.
Disney Lorcana Set 9: Fabled
Launching on 5 September 2025, with pre-release on 29 August, Fabled marks a pivotal point in Lorcana’s evolution. This set introduces two new card rarities:

Epic: Positioned between Legendary and Enchanted, featuring special artwork and foil treatments.

Iconic: The rarest tier, with only two cards per set, showcasing custom foil patterns and 3D effects.
Fabled also initiates Lorcana’s first set rotation, moving the initial four sets—The First Chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, Into the Inklands, and Ursula’s Return, out of the Core Constructed format. However, many cards from these sets will be reprinted in Fabled, including Enchanted versions of fan favourites.
New Formats: Core Constructed and Infinity Constructed
With the introduction of set rotation, Lorcana establishes two distinct gameplay formats:

Core Constructed: A rotating format focusing on the most recent sets to encourage fresh strategies.

Infinity Constructed: A non-rotating format allowing the use of all cards from all sets, catering to long-term collectors and casual play.
Collection Starter Set
A new product, the Collection Starter Set, aims to attract Disney fans new to Lorcana. It includes four Fabled booster packs, a promo card of Tinker Bell, a collector’s guide, and a card portfolio.
Disney Lorcana Set 10: Whispers in the Well
Set 10, titled Whispers in the Well, is slated for release in Q4 2025. While details are limited, teaser art suggests the inclusion of characters from The Black Cauldron and Gargoyles, expanding the game’s universe.
Disney Lorcana World Championship 2025
The first Disney Lorcana World Championship is now officially set for 28–29 June 2025 at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
